Britan's Got Talent will return with a one-off special later this year

ABritain’s Got Talentspin-off show will begin later this year, with former contestants from a certain theme returning to compete once again.

A source told The Sun: “BGT might not have been on air for fifteen-odd years, but Simon thinks there’s still so much life in the formant. If you look at the ratings, viewers still love the madcap mix of talents.

“He sees honing in on a specific theme as a really nice way forward and what better way to start than with magic. Over the years, the Got Talents all over the world have unearthed some amazing magic acts…

“Of course, if the magical contest is successful when it airs, it paves the way for a raft of themed specials.”

The news has yet to be confirmed by bosses at ITV, but The Sun has hinted that show favourites like Marc Spelmann and Richard Jones will return in a bid to be crownedBritain’s Got Talent’s champion of magic.

Some of the most memorable moments in the show's 15-year history have come from magicians, with Richard Jones being crowned the winner in 2016.

Marc Spelmann reached the semi-finals in series 12 but stunned the judges in 2019 when he returned as the mystery act 'X'.

Spelmann received the golden buzzer from Ant and Dec in his first year on the show after detailing the struggles he endured with his wife's cancer treatment and daughter's premature birth.

The magician used his emotion to create some of the show's most unforgettable performances.

Every year has seen the likes of Simon Cowell and David Walliams astounded by magicians, so this would be an amazing opportunity for them to showcase their talent again.

The regular series ofBGThas recently been nominated for Best Talent Show at this year’s National Television Awards.

This year saw comedian Axel Blake crowned the winner, earning himself a spot at the Royal Variety Performance and £250,000.
