As the fallout from the alleged feud between on-screen besties Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby continues, viewers are convinced Schofield threw a subtle dig at his co-presenter on today's show.

Rumours of a rift started to spread last week and viewers have been keeping an extra close eye for signs of their alleged strained friendship.

Last week, The Sun reported that the pair’s relationship had ‘cooled’, with a body language expert saying there was evidence of tension during their show on 11 May.

Despite appearing as a united front on screen following the report, some fans weren't too convinced, especially when they spotted thatWilloughbyhad changed her Twitter bio, removing a reference to Schofield.

The presenter's previous bio made reference to a ‘Twitterlegend’ AKA her co-presenter and friend.

However, it has since been changed, and now reads: "Broadcaster, Founder of Wyldemoon, Brand ambassador for Marks & Spencer and Garnier, Author of Reflections."

Schofield, who recently returned to the show after taking pre-planned leave around his brother’s sex abuse trial at Exeter Crown Court last month, released a statementto suggest that 'the last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us'.

“As I have said before, Holly is my rock. We’re the best of friends - as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone,” Schofield said.

“Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I’ve been there for her.

This Morningviewers who tuned in today (17 May) are convinced TV veteran Schofield made a cheeky dig at Willoughby.

After Willoughby mentioned having to leave the show earlier than normal today for a trip to Buckingham Palace for a Prince’s Trust event, Schofield said: “So, you’re off midday-ish and I’m holding the fort?”

Willoughby replied with her characteristic jovial smile and said: “Yes you are!”

And Schofield said: "It’s fine," before moving on to the next segment.

However, the exchange did not go unnoticed with viewers at home.

"@thismorning @Schofe holding the for fort @hollywills subtle digs," one fan tweeted shortly after the moment aired.
