Thousands Of People Sign Petition For A Simpsons Hit & Run Sequel

It's been nearly 20 years since we were blessed with the iconic game that wasThe Simpsons: Hit & Run.

The game managed to sell a whopping 3 million copies by 2007 and everyone adored travelling through the open-world environment and running into Hans Moleman.

But, in all the years since its release, the appetite for more has only grown stronger. An online petition has been launched and it calls for Radical Entertainment to do a sequel.

Hassan Mohammad said inthe petition- which has more than 16,000 signatures at the time of writing - that the 'public demand definitely warrants a sequel.'

"I'm astonished one hasn't been made yet, or alternatively a remastering of the original game. I hope it can be made possible through the means of this petition," he said.

"If you are nostalgic about this game and would love to see another one made, you know what to do!"

Among some of the requests fans hope to see include 'more playable characters, those featured in the series such as Flanders, Grandpa, Principal Skinner, Willy, Otto, Dr. Hibbert, Chief Wiggum, Krusty, Moe, and Barney, alongside The Simpsons and Apu.'

Mohammed added: "It's a no-brainer to include more levels, and levels should be open-ended, i.e having the whole of Springfield connecting together instead of it being in sections.

“另一个不明智的方法是改进图形,更多的探索场所,更多的收藏品,更多有趣的任务,更多的汽车,并将其发布在诸如PS4,Nintendo Switch和Xbox One之类的新一代游戏机上。”

However, good news could be in the pipeline for fans ofHit & Run, with the producer of the original game Vlad Ceraldi saying he thinks the game could be remastered or remade - which is surely an idea we'd all back wholeheartedly.

Speaking toLADbible, he said: "I could see it on multiple different types of platforms as a remake or remaster.

"It would have to take the parties who are in charge of the property to want that to happen and someone out there to decide that they were going to go out and do it.

"But absolutely, it would be fun to explore those characters and that universe again, that work again."

Ceraldi - who is now the director of development at Hothead Games - said he knew the game was going to be special all those years back.

He said: "As far as why it stood the test of time, I think it's a game that kids could play, adults could play, anyone who was fans of the show could try and laugh and have fun with.

"When you make something, sometimes you know you've made something special. This was one of the ones that we knew we hit the mark. We didn't know it was going to sell as well as it did - we had high hopes, but it definitely hit its expectations."

The enduring popularity of the game has since been evidenced to Ceraldi first-hand, in a moment that made him feel both old and proud.

He said: "I remember interviewing somebody for one of our games - they didn't know that I worked onThe Simpsons: Hit & Run. They were going on about one of their favourite games of all time and ended up saying at the end that it wasThe Simpsons: Hit & Run.

"How much joy they had when they opened it up on Christmas morning and put it in and they ended up playing it all Christmas. They're telling this story and then say they were six-years-old.

"It makes you feel old, but it was also interesting seeing this young new employee of our company, he's starting his career."
