Lad Gets Sent £2,000 Worth Of Food After Giving Out His Wetherspoon's Table Number

Orders then surged to over £2,000 – and Birchy has now accused the pub of 'scamming' him for not serving up the order.

Birchy, who was dining at The Golden Beam Wetherspoons in Headingley, Leeds, said: "Right full madness anything you've ordered if not going to be sent because you are not going to be sent.

"And also you are not going to be refunded.

"The lady did explain why but yeah if you've ordered something for me I've not received it and you're not getting your money back."

Tom was allegedly told 'there was too much alcohol being offered to his table' and 'the pub would not fulfil any other orders'.

The 23-year-old added: "Na bro trust me I used to work in a Wetherspoons in Leeds as well – 40 hours a week it was hard graft mate.

"As long as their followers got their money back I don't give a f**k but when the bar manager is saying they can't have refunds because they are not present in the bar and it is in the terms and conditions.

"When one of my boys reads the terms and conditions and finds out that's not in it that's theft."

A Wetherspoons spokesperson told LADbible: "On the night in question, a customer in the pub broadcast the table number he was sitting at on social media and asked his followers to send him food and drink via the Wetherspoon Order and Pay App even though they were not present in the pub with him. The customer has over 170,000 social media followers and very soon the pub was overwhelmed by orders to his table, including a large number of alcoholic drinks.

"This slows down service for the pub’s customers.

"It is also contrary to the Company’s responsible drinking policy, which is designed to promote the statutory licensing objectives, an important part of the pub licensing system.

"As a matter of common sense, it is undesirable for customers to build up a large number of drinks on their table at any one time.

"The customer was informed that there was too much alcohol being ordered to his table and the pub would not fulfil any other orders.

"We understand at this stage, he asked his followers to send drinks to other tables.

"Refunds could not be processed on the day are currently being processed for the food and drink not delivered. We are working through the refunds as quickly as we can but due to the volume, there may be some delay."
