Merseyside Police Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims has urged people who think they know anything about the shooting to come forward as their investigation 'will rely heavily on information' from the public.

She urged people to do whatever they could to 'bring those responsible for this horrific murder of a young woman at Christmas to justice'.

The police are 'trying to establish the motive and circumstances surrounding this callous shooting', with Sims asking anyone at The Lighthouse or who may have CCTV footage which could help to contact them.

Detective Superintendent Sue Coombs said: "We believe that the gunman fired shots towards the front entrance of the pub.

"We know that minutes later, a dark-coloured vehicle, possibly an A-class Mercedes, was seen to leave the pub car park, so we are particularly keen to speak to that male and anybody who knows anything about that vehicle."

Anyone with information is asked to DMMerseyside Police Contact Centreor @CrimestoppersUK anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting log 1044 of Saturday 24 December.
